The Reservoir

Jiftlik, Palestine

Proposed Design

Scope / Architecture

This project was designed after a deep analysis on the area of Jiftlik a village near Jericho. the challenge was to rethink the prison of Jiftlik, results showed us that there was 12 wells of water were shutdown by the Israeli army , therefore our approach adopted the idea of water reservation as benefit for the inhabitance. our experimentation made us understand how to collect, reserve and discharge water. such process of water reservation and purification and the history of the place deserved to be shown to the public regularly, we designed a path for visitors were they can sea the water filling some rooms creating reflections and passing by sculptures representing the functions of the rooms through history. Al-Jiftlik prison was initially built by the ottomans specifically the left wing, Later on by the British army specifically the right wing, it was handed to the Jordanian army and at last occupied by Israeli forces.
